The Fault in our Stars by John Green is an exceptionally brilliant book. John has this way with his words......a very unique writing style, hilarious lines, and yet he can touch your heart like no other. His works are all amazing, this is just his most recent, and my personal opinion, his best!
His others are: Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and Paper Towns.
I would also suggest Divergent, which I saw somebody already did. I really enjoyed that book....
And finally, read I am Number Four!! And it's sequel, The Power of Six. They're both outstanding, with great action and stuff.....so yeah, those are my suggestions!
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin. It's massive, so only if you got a lot of free time. the tv series Game of Thrones is also good, based on the books.
Anything by Tolkien
Either of Cassandra Clare's series, I think the Infernal Devices is better. But it depends how much you like YA.
All of Melina Marchetta and John Marsdens books. Especially the Tommorrow when the war began series.
I think it's great you do these polls, so many book suggestions that I will have to add to my list. Even though I've already got 20 books on it and no time to read them and probably shouldn't be adding more
I *make* time for things I'm interested in and I read all the books from ASoIaF
Read 5 books by Tolkien, don't know if I'll read any more, but I might re-read LotR someday.
Thank you very much, I'll check out all the rest! Well, there's never enough books on the list, especially if you read as much as I do
Well 5 Tolkien books is probably more than most people will read, but I think they are always good to re-read just because they are so huge theres so much in the story I forget.
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
The Silenced by James Devita
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Rangers Apprentice (a series of books- I think there are 10?)
Jane Austen anything (I love her books so much!) Among my favorites are Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.
Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick
Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom
Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach
Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins (It's a series)
..An author I love is Sarah Desson.
And of course, the obvious ones that I'm sure you've read but I just had to write anyway...
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling
Read all Jane Austen, Harry Potter and just got my hands on the Hunger games, the first 2 books!
Some are familiar to me, I'm sure I'll read at least a couple, gotta check them all out first! Thank you very much!
-its just like a tim burton movie! its a very visual book with SOOO many similies and metaphors.... and im pretty sure it's being made into a movie...... its a very beautiful but ultimately sad story. [link] music video by the author, supposedly how the movie will look, (really pretty song
2. Hush: An Irish Princess' Tale by Donna Jo Napoli.
- its not a fantasy, its about a young princess and her sister being kidnapped on a slave boat. she finds strength and power in being silent on the ship, its a very good book i couldnt put it down!
3. animal farm by George Orwell
- good for a quick read, i think it's like 150 pages or so, its really interesting
4. the shining by stephen king
- i know its kind of cliche, but i really loved this book! i tried to read the green mile but i could get through it it just bored me, but this was fun to read, and some of the things in the book actually scared me! D: it is WAYYY different than the movie!
5. Contact by Carl Sagan
-i loved it. a realistic story of what would happen if our satellites actually picked up an alien message. the message is actually instructions to build a teleportation device to the alien world, i would also recommend the movie!
6. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer.
-really nice story of a boy who lost his father in the 9/11 attacks and finds a key in an envelope in his room. on the envelope it says 'black'. trying to be close to his father, he goes around the city looking for people with the last name 'black' asking if they knew his father. its a very interesting journey. and its also a movie! hah but i havent seen it yet
