BlahBlah + Big Weekly Features!

Sun Jul 29, 2012, 4:20 PM

EDIT: New "WATCHERS-FEATURE!" pt. 23 is out! [link] Also, let's make a test, wanna help? [link]
---
Nothing particularly interesting to share, you may want to skip right onto the features.

Reported the problem with drag and drop not functioning and it works now! After a few days of enjoying, we're on over 36°C again, so the new drawing I started recently will take way longer to finish. Decided for a double portrait I was mentioning, will try to work on the face now during the night if Rule of Four doesn't steal my attention. Only 80 pages to the end. :D

Now when I think about it, I may have been reading a bit too much in the last 3 or so weeks. About 2000 pages of various books in total. :faint: And I could have used the "cooler" days for drawing, but yeah, you can't really control for what you'll be in the mood for the most. It sucks. Oh, and I joined RedBubble again. For the 3rd time actually. Won't bore you with details. If you're there too, we can follow each other if you want, just pop me a link.

I just happen to come across your journal through the journal option above and I can't help but wonder, about your features, are you featuring people that you watch? people who watch you? or faves that you've wanted to show? and is there a special reason why you feature so much and at every week? most of the time when i see features its because of one of those "spread the love" games but it seems like you go out of your way to show people the best of what you see ;)

Uhm, OK, I do several "types" of features:

1. "Weekly features" - feature I do once a week where I feature the best works from various categories found since the last week's feature. It's usually 25 up to 50 thumbs. I've been doing it for couple of years on this account and before I did it for a long time on one other account.

2. "Watchers feature! pt.?" - do this one once a month and it features only works of my watchers and the "procedure" you can read in this FAQ [link]

3. "Traditional Art favorites of 20??" - feature I do once at the end of every year with the best/most favorite traditional art I found submitted the year I'm making the feature for

4. Usually custom box features for various contest winners I donated prizes to etc.

Now you found about my features more than you ever wanted to know

Features always help artists, especially if featured by some very popular deviant where they attract a huge audience, which I'm not, but they still help, sometimes more sometimes less. Many of us always work on trying to find some great but relatively unknown artist who deserve much more recognition and then we feature the crap out of their work helping many new people find and see their work. It often happens someone finds someone great but unknown and features them, then other people featured them too and so on :D

hmmm you have given me a lot to think about. it's true that more popular artists would easily give a lot of leeway if they feature someone but i don't really see that often. still i know a lot of good artists that should be featured so maybe i can take it upon myself to do so. i mean its a practical way of using my premium and i'd be showing art that i really admire and respect. and who knows it might come back to me ;)

Yeah, that's true, and even if they do them that's usually a few pieces couple of times a year, but there are exceptions so bravo for them.

Great way to use premium. You can always feature what you like the most, great works of artists who deserve more etc. I stopped this out of laziness and forgetfulness long time ago, but many people notify those who they featured and give them link to the feature and this way they can see it if they want + sometimes it happens they didn't know about you and they like your work so they might give a little feedback to you too, you may even become dA friends, be mutual watchers, who knows.

aha heheh i totally forgot about actually sending them the link to the feature. I think it would be great publicity and you also let the know that you want to spread their work with nothing in return. i mean if they want to do something for you that's out of the kindness of their hearts not an obligation. and you know i think i will start off featuring people. it'll show i'm serious about art and not just about getting seen ;)

Hey every so often you just have to stop and read a book :D I read a lot of magazines now-a-days more than books but I do still love to read... I think it's a part of being an artist  Great feature! :woohoo:
