Brilliant Michael C. Hall
as Dexter Morgan
from the TV show Dexter„...but with Lumen...I'm someone different. In her eyes...I'm not a monster at all.“ (S05E10 - In the Beginning)
I slightly got tired of seeing works using the same 3-4 different refs of Dexter over and over again, no matter how fantastic the works were, so I decided to go for a ref I haven's seen drawn/painted already, although on site as big as this one there could be X artworks of it that I don't know of.
After I scanned this drawing and saw it in a smaller size, I couldn't believe it was my drawing. I guess because of all this reflections in the blood, blurry parts vs. detailed ones etc. made it look quite realistic, despite all the parts I'm not satisfied with and all the areas I did a very sloppy job on (and there are plenty of them!).
I was scanning some WIPs of this drawing for my YouTube WIP animations, so I was able to measure approx. time needed for this drawing. It took 30-35h to complete. That is waaaay over my number of hours I can work on a single piece without getting too impatient and sloppy.
Maybe you didn't know, but I'm a big Dexter fan! The show is simply brilliant! It's very different than any other show I've ever watched. People usually don't love serial killers, but we love this one for sure!
I like the way the show is made, with Dexter's little inner monologues and everything. Gotta love that black, morbid humor! Tools used:
A4 Canson fine grain paper ( 160g/m2)
kneaded, stick and pencil eraser
H, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B regular pencils
2B, HB mechanical pencils
white gel pen
2H tick pencil
